About

Maryvonne Wellen is a dutch jewellery designer based in Düsseldorf. She attended the four-year training program to become a goldsmith at De Vakschool in Schoonhoven, NL. Maryvonne continued her education at the department of Applied Arts and Design of the Hochschule Düsseldorf. During her BA an MA studies she maintained focus on jewellery design and extensively explored the possibilities of merging 3D digitizing and computer aided manufacturing techniques with traditional goldsmithing methods. After graduation in 2013 Maryvonne Wellen launched her own label of authentic limited edition jewellery. Her designs are clean, pure and best defined by the combination of classic feminine shapes with historical references and a contemporary feel.

Maryvonne invites the wearer on an empowering and imaginative journey. Her work acknowledges the significance of craft in today’s culture while celebrating the technical potentials for design in this day and age. The tactile shapes of intuitively molded faces and figures reveal the makers hand, while the digital manipulation of the original designs add to the contemporary – at times futuristic – feel of the pieces.

Next to having her own label Maryvonne is also part of the MPA collective and works as an educator and research assistant at the Design department of the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, Germany.
